Like there is Living Blues in the U.S., in Japan there is this Blues & Soul Records (BSR) Magazine. It is published by Blues Interactions, Inc., the company that does the internationally known label P-Vine Records. The issue No. 1 was published in spring of 1994. Along with Blues Market magazine (which focuses on club information and Japanese blues artists), BSR serves as a premier source of information for Japanese blues fans. It is written in Japanese.
This magazine also covers southern deep soul and R&B. It orginally started as a quarterly magazine, but it is currently published every 2 months.
BSR usually comes with a CD including some of the tracks mentioned in the feature article. In Issue #33, the CD was titled "The Spirit of RJ" and contained 13 cover versions of Robert Johnson songs played by people from Houston Stackhouse, Johnny Winter, to Japanese jug band Mad Words.
